July 11, 2018 will mark the 17th anniversary of public schools being open for Good News Clubs!
In Milford School District vs. Good News Club, the United States Supreme Court determined that “CEF must be given equal access to the schools on the same basis as every other organization.” That decision opened the door for the Bible to go back into the public schools!
The urgency of going through the open door is obvious:
None of us expected the schools to again be open to God’s Word, and none of us will be surprised if the door closes. We must act while God has granted us access.
The children who attend our schools are the most likely to respond to the gospel. Of those who profess Christ today, 85% came to Christ prior to their 15th birthday. Now is the time to turn children toward the Lord.
The children, who were in the first grade when the door opened for Good News Clubs in 2001, are now 24 years old! We must reach them while we can.
We should never believe that just because we live in America our religious freedoms cannot be taken away. Our culture is rushing away from God and His word, and we have the privilege and duty to engage our culture with the truth of God’s Word.*
CEF Peninsula’s goal is to have a Good News Club in 1/3 of the 85 elementary schools in our area by 2021.
In Benson’s Commentary, the verse in Revelation 3:8 reads like this: ‘I have given you power and opportunity of spreading my gospel, which none can hinder you from doing.” The only question is, “Are you willing?”
