Go, Make Disciples!
Last October at Matoaka Good News Club several children responded to the invitation at the end of the Bible lesson to learn more about God’s salvation gift. The children all listened as I presented the salvation plan in detail, but one 3rd grade boy was especially interested asking several questions. He finally said “I want to ask God in my heart”. We prayed right then as he gave his life to the Savior.
Since then Eric* has continued to grow, actively participating in every club meeting. Two weeks ago he came to me at the beginning of club asking if he could help when I gave the invitation. I said “Of course” not knowing exactly what he wanted to do. Four children responded that day. After I explained salvation, Eric asked if he could show them with the Wordless Book. He presented the complete Gospel story perfectly. Although none of the children asked to receive salvation that day, each one listened intently. God is working, using even an eight year old new believer, to plant His seeds!
We will be celebrating Jesus’ finished work this month: His life, death and resurrection on our behalf. In the Good News Clubs, we proclaim the gospel each week in the schools to children who might never hear otherwise.
CEF does not stop there. Our Mission Statement reads:
“Child Evangelism Fellowship® is a Bible-centered, worldwide organization composed of born- again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ AND to establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living.”
Each week’s teaching includes not only the gospel message, but one main truth for believing children to cause them to grow in their walk with God. We know this is God’s plan from Jesus’ words to his disciples, spoken just before He ascended to the right hand of God the Father.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Matthew 28:20
That is what is so exciting about Eric’s desire to share what he has learned with other children. He has made God’s true Word his own and is living it out!
