5-Day Club, One Way
Jesus said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
All through the week of our 5-Day Club at Grove Christian Center the message of the Gospel was repeated in song, prayer, memory verses, games and teaching. CEF knows how to fill young hearts and minds, old hearts and minds too, with the love of God poured out through His Son, Jesus. The One Way curriculum dispels the widely held belief that we can earn our way to heaven by our own good works. The missionary story of Amy Carmichael’s testimony drew children in and supported the truth that salvation is through faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
We, the 5 adults and 2 teen leaders, prepared and planned for the children that the Lord would bring us. The staff at Grove had helped with lots of promotion for the 5DC. It’s hard to believe that when we arrived at the Grove Center on Monday morning full of excitement and anticipation, we had the registration for only one child. You can imagine how thrilled we were when 13 other children showed up and came all week. They joined in with lots of energy and full participation.
In a world where non-Christians, and even many Christians, doubt that Jesus is the one and only way to God, it was such a blessing to plant seeds of truth. The children had tender hearts. There were some children who expressed the desire to know more about what it means to believe in Jesus. There were other children who seemed to quietly be soaking everything into their hearts. The Lord knows and so we continue to pray!
Children want to be loved. The richness of the whole program pulled the children into knowing they were loved from the first greeting to the closing verse: “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” Jeremiah 31:3b What a blessing to be an ambassador for Christ!
